March 19, 2021 Global Climate Strike: A sincere (& personal) letter dedicated to the climate strike movement.

There are thousands of amazing reasons why we should join the Climate Strike, but I am going to share with you only one reason, the one that at the moment resonates with me the most.
Right now we are not living our life to the fullest. Although we may believe that we have everything we have ever wanted, the truth is, we all lack a lot of things that are actually free and should be guaranteed to everyone, for example, unpolluted air, green areas, or clean drinking water.
I believe that we should care a lot more about not having microplastics in our stomach, wanting less natural disasters, eating real organic and nutritious food, using chemical-free products that do not cause diseases, and of course, the chance for every person to have the same opportunities.
Ironically, in some places it is cheaper to buy unhealthy food than to buy a fruit that is going to be thrown away anyway because of the huge amount of food waste we produce daily; not because it is no longer fresh, but because food is not delivered equally and because we live in a wasteful society.
Yes, it is painful to think that right now we are all being affected by the climate crisis. Of course, vulnerable groups live in conditions much more worrying and there are some that are being severely impacted by climate change, discrimination, poverty, and so on.
And yes, there are a lot of inventions and actions that have positively influenced our society and that, of course, we should be very grateful for. However, some of these are the ones that prevent us from evolving, growing, and building a world we can all co-design and where we can all live in harmony with nature.
Our humanity’s bucket-list has crossed out outstanding accomplishments, nevertheless, we are not focusing all of our energy on the progress that can turn our life 360º degrees for good. Today can be the day that we can direct our energy to the issues that need urgent attention. Today may be the day that someone decides to change and prioritize a sustainable future. Today may be the day when everyone listens. Today may be the day when we realize that sustainable living is about creating freedoms for everyone and everything.
As always, it is easier said than done. We need everyone’s motivation and creativity so that we can suggest solutions to keep going. Are we too late? I really don’t believe so, but if we are, I am still going to try my best for nature, my loved ones, me, and for you.
